:Welcome to the Geriatric Rotation at AMH!! The members of the Geriatric Medicine "Section" of the Department of Internal Medicine want to make this a truly enjoyable and educational experience for you.

* Please call Mary Hofmann, MD, Beeper #12222, on the day before you start your rotation to discuss where you should report.

The rotation covers many different aspects of inpatient/outpatient long term (nursing home) care and you will be in many different places. Please take advantage of the variety. We realize however with your outpatient responsibilities we may all need to be flexible and we can work with this. Regardless of what you plan to do after your residency, primary care or subspecialty practice, the vast majority of your patients will be elderly and we feel this is among the most important electives you will have.

If you need to prioritize due to scheduling, we feel the most important experiences are:

- care of nursing home patient Artman with Mary Hofmann, MD

Willow Ridge with Rita Reichard, MD

- Geriatric Assessment with Dr. Reichard and Trish Bankes, CRNP

- home visits – part of Geriatric Assessment

- hospital consults with Donna Graham, CRNP and Grace Wert, RN, MSN

- wound care rounds

- care of patients with incontinence

- geriatric psychiatry
